Complete!! Yes, I'm done, and it was so good! I totally recomend this book to those who think they can get through it, so I would say... maybe Smart Teen- Middle agged Adult would be best.
History Lesson!!
The Borgias (The Step-Mom and her brother) were real. The two people mentioned Lucrezia and Cesare (Step-Mom and brother) were real, though they had siblings that were omitied in the story, the Borgias relationship with the de Nevada family was fictional, as were the de Nevada family. The Bogias were royalty. They were intensely corupt royalty, with rumors of incest, murder, adultry, hedonism, nepotism and striking beauty. They were known to be either poor rulers or fair rulers depending on when in history you look.
Even some of the places in the book were real too, but only small symbloic places. The author, Gregory Maguire took a part of his life to leave his home and family to go and study for more authenticity from his novel. The book also weaves the od original tales from Italy and Germany and makes this modern book a timeless classic.

Mirror Mirror: Day 4

So, after a few days rest and a four hour car ride I almost finished the book!! I'm on page 207, but from what I was on before, I'm just flying through this book, it really is very easy to get into. But not so easy to get through, I've use Google translations I don't even remeber how many times.
Okay, a part of me can't helped but to be saddened with this take on the Snow White tale. In the diseny version, which every little girl I'm sure has read, there are seven dwarves and a hadsome prince and true love. This take is very different I know but the part that I liked the best and the part that captured little girl's hearts every where was the prince rescuing Snow White from her slumber. So I can't help but feel sad that I haven't read about a prince in this book yet. There are gooseboys and pedofiles, but no prince.

Mirror Mirror: Day 3

For those of you reading this blog, or just dropping through, here is a picture of the book, 'Mirror Mirror' ->
Now I am on page 97, a.k.a. chapter 21, and I just made it past part one.
So, commenting again on the dictionary, yeah totally needed, especially for me, but you mght not need it, it just depends on how good your reading skills are. The spanish, not so much. You don't really need it because you can kinda get what they say from reading in context, but for those of you wanting all the answers, like me, Google is a really good solution.
Okay, this book is very easy to get into, there are many elements of the orginal Snow White story in this book, but there are new twists, like adding tales from the Bible. Bianca's (Snow) father had left to find a branch of the tree of knowledge. For those of you who dont know, the tree of knowledge is the tree with the forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve ate that got them kicked out of the garden of Eden. This is really brilliant, and I've been looking a bit further into it, many powerful people and deep believers of christian faith went looking for the tree of knowledge. I will have to dig more but there could be some real history melded with fiction.
I will post tomorrow, and I'll see what I can do about adding some music to this place, I'm still working on figuring everything out.

Mirror Mirror: Day 2
As the title says, Day 2! Yah to me!
So I've made it to page 43 a.k.a. chapter 13 according to the table of contents at least. The book is arranged so oddly. There are 4 parts that correspond with the years in the novel. Then in the sections there are an unnamed number of chapters, with different amounts in each part. On top of this, there is a poem in the beginning, and there are pages in the book with a line from the poem with their own little poem on the page. Its an odd array and I feel like I'm struggling to find where I am, I like there to be order to the book I read, and though there is order, it feels like there may actually be too much of it.
The set up is shaky to me, and the set up is only at fair in my mind. The start of the book is in first person P.O.V. then it moves to third person. It wasn't too bad, it happens in plenty of books, but then, and only on certain chapters, the P.O.V. changes again from first to third. It is highly confusing, you don't even know who's P.O.V. it is.
Now, not wanting to give everything away for you, I have noted some similarities between Snow White and this. The symbology is there and very well place, like finding the mirror in Lago Verde. Lago means Lake and I can only assume that Verde is a name and not something in spanish that could be important. Already, I know that this book is highly advanced and I am going to need a dictionary and a translator.
I well continue on soon, possibly tomorrow, oh! and if you please could recommend some books for me to read and write about! Thank you!

Mirror Mirror: Day 1
So, today I decided to start this thing where I would read a book and blog about it. Not too bad of an idea, I just hope I can stick to it. It should be fun, you know just talk about books... and ideas... it'll be cool.
The book I am starting off with is 'Mirror Mirror' by Gregory Maguire. From what I can get from the back is the book is another Snow White story bu its set in like real place with a name Montefiore. And its set in a real time, 1502, not just some vague place and time, this way, everything just feels more real. It's nice, not just a made up time and place, but with actual description. The characters are made even more real because now they have names too, and belivable ones too.
So far it sounds good, but I'll have to read more, I'll try to have some read for tomorrow!
